This data selector search allows you to find UK data.

Select your data using the fields below. When you choose some of the values, the options in the other fields will automatically update to show only the selections where data is available. This ensures you can always make valid choices and find exactly what you need. However, this is not the case for all values; the following will not have any effect: Start Year, End Year, Pollutant, Source.

Please note that the greenhouse gas emissions data includes the United Kingdom, Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and the Falkland Islands (consistent with reporting to the UNFCCC). For other pollutants, the data includes only the UK and Gibraltar (consistent with UNECE reporting).

Please note, for GHGs international aviation, international shipping and (non-building/transport) accidental fires are reported against NFR/CRT Codes 1D1a, 1D1b and non-IPCC respectively, however they should not be included in the national total in accordance with international reporting guidelines.

Data are available back to 1990 for greenhouse gases, 1980 for ammonia and 1970 for all other pollutants.

If selecting individual gases, note that methane and nitrous oxide are  presented as a mass of gas without accounting for their respective global warming potentials, and CO₂ is presented as mass of carbon in CO₂, so should be multiplied by 44/12 to convert to a mass of CO₂.

Carbon dioxide emissions from the combustion of material of biogenic origin is not included in this dataset, as it is accounted for in the carbon stock changes in Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF). However, for those interested, emission factors for biogenic CO2 emissions are presented in the emission factors database.

UK greenhouse gas emissions statistics, including summary tables and datasets, are published annually by DESNZ as Official Statistics. Data are available with different geographical scopes for UK emissions reporting under the Climate Change Act, Paris Agreement and UNFCCC. As well as presenting emissions on a source basis, emissions are also presented on an 'end-user' basis, where emissions from energy supply are reallocated to the sectors where the energy is used.
